Hi, I’m Wayne — and yes, I’m 65 years old and just now discovering the world of Pokémon cards.
That might sound unusual. Most people think Pokémon is for kids, or maybe for younger collectors who grew up with it. But here I am — brand new to the community, curious, and ready to learn something completely different.
As I approach retirement, I’ve been thinking a lot about how to spend my time. I love golf, but let’s be honest — I can’t golf all day, every day. I wanted a hobby that was interesting, colorful, and maybe even a little nostalgic. Something that kept me curious and learning.
That’s when Pokémon caught my attention.
🎴 Why Pokémon Cards?
I’ve always enjoyed collecting things — sports memorabilia, books, even coins when I was younger. There’s just something satisfying about holding something physical that tells a story.
When I started looking into Pokémon cards, I was amazed at the artistry, the history, and the community around it. There’s a real sense of connection — whether you’re chasing a rare Charizard, protecting your cards in sleeves, or trading with friends.
I don’t know every term or every set (yet), and I certainly don’t pretend to be an expert. I’m starting where every collector starts — with curiosity, a few packs, and the excitement of not knowing what’s inside them.
